The Property

Casa Cheruy is situated on two acres in the heart of the Old Fort Lowell Historic District along the edge of a mesquite bosque (forest) near the confluence of the Rillito River and Pantano Wash.

Scattered picturesque mud adobe ruins, mature mesquite trees, creosote bushes and unobstructed views of the Santa Catalina Mountains, combine to create a contemplative retreat.

A microcosm of the southwest, the property was once the site of an early Hohokam village occupied from the Snaketown phase (C.E. 700-750)  through the beginning of the of the Hohokam Classic period (C.E. 1150-1450).  In the 1870s it was part of the US Territorial Fort Lowell built as a strategic outpost during the Apache Wars.  During the 1930s and 40s the property was the locus of a southwestern artist colony.

Today this architectural and historic treasure is available for adventurers seeking the true west.
